meet your sharpener

       Matt Kuhns has met his food with a knife in kitchens, butcher shops, and in the field ever since he was a little guy. Matt moved to Portland, Oregon, with his soon to be wife Angeleque, from Tennessee to attend culinary school. Little did he know that the Pacific Northwest would be hanging on to him, the beauty and bounty of Oregon is just an incredible place to work and live. He worked as cook and sous chef at several Portland fine dining establishments starting in 2000, and moved on to work in and manage meat shops for a decade. This made for lots of knife work and Matt developed a keen eye for how to best maintain his knives. Twenty years of professional culinary experience has taught him that nothing can be more important than a sharp knife in the kitchen.  Matt sees the knife as an extension of his hand. This passion for knives has led him to want to share it with you by sharpening and helping you care for your knives. Everyday in the kitchen, in the garden, or at work will be better with sharper tools.  Let Matt show you what he can do for you.
